We are a flat green outdoor bowling club and have been in existence for nearly 100 years - formed around 1913, Hitchin Bowls Club was one of the founder members of the Hertfordshire Bowling Association when it was formed in 1915.

At that time the club bowled on greens behind the Ship Public House in Walsworth (now the Millstream).

Hitchin Bowls Club moved to Bancroft Recreation Ground, nowadays known as Bancroft Gardens, when the recreation ground was opened in 1929.
